18 or 24 months in duration, the course combines theoretical teaching with a vast amount of practical classes and hands-on studio time. During training, students gain in-depth knowledge of a broad range of skills:
  • Sound Engineering
  • Music Production
  • Audio Post Production
  • Live Sound
  • Mastering

  • Phase 1
The course begins by teaching the essential basic principles of sound recording, along with the fundamental elements of the recording studio environment. Using entry level and intermediate studios, you will work both individually and as part of a team. Studio practical time has additional support available from a team of experienced technicians.

    Phase 2
Based mainly in the computer suites, this phase focuses on the use of software to learn skills such as sequencing, editing and processing. Phase 2 also includes some Live Sound training and a sample of post production editing, to help you make an informed choice for phase 3.

    Phase 3 ‘S’ – Advanced studio production
This phase is dedicated to brining your studio engineering and production skills up to a professional level. Using the school’s most advanced studios and equipment you will be producing work to the highest industrial and commercial standards.

    Phase 3 ‘L’ – Live Sound Engineering
The Live Sound industry has become increasingly specialised and technology driven. There is an increased need for engineers and technicians to possess these skills at entry level and there are now over 35 different career types available within this field.

With a dedicated 2000 sp ft training venue, staging, lighting and the latest and best equipment, as well as ‘virtual stadium mixing’, SSR have developed an unrivalled Live Sound Training programme as dictated by the industry itself.
