About the Charlie Jones Scholarship SSR & Wigwam Acoustics are proud to announce the launch of the Charlie Jones Scholarship . Charlie, who sadly died in June 2006, played a very important part towards the growth and development of Wigwam over the past twenty years. Charlie was regarded as one of the industry’s best Live Sound Engineers and was also a teacher and mentor to many young, up-and–coming engineers. Charlie not only recognised the importance of education in the industry, but enjoyed investing his own time to inspire and develop trainee engineers. The Scholarship has been created in Charlie’s spirit. Helen Jones (Charlie’s sister) is also funding a place at SSR. Helen would like Charlie’s passion, expertise and desire to educate, to live on for many years, through the Scholarship. The Charlie Jones Scholarship is linked to SSR’s Audio Engineering course, and is intended for young people who would otherwise not be able to afford this type of training. Applicants for the scholarship must also have a goal of working in the live sound industry. There will be 1 scholarship place per intake of the Audio Engineering Course (intakes are every six months). Scholarship places are funded by Helen Jones, Wigwam and SSR, on a rotational basis.
