For over 20 years the School of Sound Recording has delivered courses in DJing, Sound Engineering, Dance Music Production, Vocal and Performance training and many more music related fields.
Since 2002 we have been developing courses for young people that combine these activities in a fun learning environment whilst helping young people to develop confidence, team building, personal goal setting, employment awareness and personal development on many levels.
These skills are vital to young people from any background, and can help them as they work through school, move towards exams, prepare to leave school, find work or move into Further Education. |
 |
Our experience in building courses around these vital elements is second to none. We have developed training programs to cater for a variety of groups with a diverse range of needs, including:
- High Schools (Education and Employment Awareness)
- 6th Form Colleges (Curriculum enhancement)
- Scout / Girl Guide groups
- Pupil Referral Units
- ISSP
- Summer Schools
- Connexions
We have a wealth of experience in catering for those who are:
Not in education, employment or training; looking for extra-curricular guidance and training; high achievers with confidence issues; working with probation organisations; from disadvantaged backgrounds. |
|
Our flexible approach to course design allows us to accommodate a range of learner needs, program specifications and budgetary requirements.
Length, structure and delivery can be all altered to suit, as can the core components.
Previous courses have included 2 hour DJ Workshops for groups of 12, one-on-one special training sessions over 6 weeks, intensive vocal and performance programmes and one-off high school 'Enterprise Days'. Other activities have included DJ skills, music composition, employment-related workshops, guest lectures from working professionals, live performances in city centre venues, CD recording and rap lyric master-classes.
We also operate a Vocal Academy incorporating singing coaching, movement and dance, stage confidence, studio recording (using our professional studios and in-house engineers) and song-writing.
Any of these elements can be combined to create a customised delivery that provides the best opportunity for your group.

Here are some comments about our short courses...
"I would just like to thank you for providing another summer school. Once again, the kids really enjoyed it and they really took something away with them. One of the students already has his dad buying decks for him! The tutors were fantastic; patient, calm and collected."
Aaron Saxton - Jeff Joseph School
"Fairbridge is a national charity that works with marginalised young people. We work with young people to develop skills, which will enable them to work towards achievable goals that are relevant to their personal needs and circumstances. We have been working with The School of Sound Recording over the last two years to provide the opportunity for young people to participate on DJing Courses. They have tailor-made the courses to suit our diverse and sometimes unmotivated client group. Last years programme was so successful that it culminated with a performance at Manchester¹s Lowry Theatre."
Karen Llewellyn - Fairbridge scheme co-ordinator
"Future Focus have worked with the School of Sound Recording on various projects over the past 3 years. Through their dedication and commitment they have provided an exciting and rewarding opportunity for our young people, given them future direction and the chance to showcase their talents in DJing and Singing."
Future Focus - Liverpool Hope University College
