SSR’s flagship course will train you for a career as a highly skilled sound engineer, and for 25 years has been successfully placing graduates into the industry. Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology has been designed by experts working in the recording industry, live sound, computer games, and the film and television industry.

Audio Engineering is available as an 18 month course.
18 month: Phase 1 > Phase 2 > Phase 3 'S' or 'L'Phase 1
The course begins with the basic principles of sound and sound recording, along with the key elements of the 21st century recording studio. Using our studios, you will work both individually and as part of a team. Studio practical time has additional support available from a team of experienced technicians.

Phase 2
Based in our Mac suites this phase focuses on the use of industry software to learn skills such as sequencing, editing and processing. Reason and Logic Pro are all covered. Studio production skills are further developed in our intermediate studios where students will be working solely in studios and working with analogue, digital and control surfaces consoles. Phase 2 also includes a sample of live sound training, to help you make an informed choice for phase 3.

Phase 3 ‘S’ – Advanced studio production

Phase 3 ‘L’ – Live Sound Engineering
This optional phase introduces you to the specialised field of live sound engineering. Covering many diverse areas including Front of House engineering, monitor engineering, PA design, stage power and distribution, rigging, cabling and health and safety; this phase will prepare you for entry in this exciting industry within which over 30 different job roles exist. With a dedicated training venue, staging, lighting, and the latest and best equipment, as well as ‘virtual stadium mixing’, SSR have developed an unrivalled Live Sound training programme as dictated by the industry itself.
