This course is designed for both beginners and professionals to improve their understanding of the mixing process for modern music productions including equalization, dynamic controllers, use of effects and other processes involved in the mix stage.
The course takes place over 2 days at SSR London and is non platform specific, although for the course we will use Pro Tools and Logic for demos.
The first day of the course takes place in our Mac Suite/Classroom and will cover the theory of mixing along with some useful demonstrations and case studies, along with plenty of discussion around the topics covered.
On the second day you will have access to our Neve studio where you will be able to have your own production mixed in a dedicated studio environment, witnessing the entire process with the tutor and putting into practise everything learned during the previous day. Attendees are encouraged to bring in their own recordings and projects for this session.
Mac Suite: 10am – 6pm
Using resources including Apple computers, DAWs, plug-ins and projector etc, students will learn from scratch how to organize a track prior to mixing as well as mixing workflows.
Topics to cover:
Neve Studio: 10am – 6pm
Students are encouraged to bring some of their projects and are able to witness how the mix is done using our state of the art Neve studio at SSR London. Mixes can be done entirely on the analogue board or a hybrid using both high quality plug-ins and analogue outboard gear.
During the mix process SSR tutors put into practise everything that students learnt the previous day, discussing problems encountered and how to solve them.
This will be a great opportunity for attendees to witness a professional mixing session and listen to their own tracks in a professionally acoustic treated room using high quality monitoring and some of the best gear and plug-ins available.
Students will get a book/document containing all the mixing topics covered during the course.
This mixing course is developed as an accompaniment to our Mastering short course, and as such mastering topics will be introduced towards the end of the session as an introduction.
This will be a very inspiring course where science meets art.
