Radio Production course overview
Launched in September 2011, SSR’s Radio Production course will introduce you to the art of producing audio content and presenting radio programmes.
Designed and delivered by SSR Radio tutors Kevin Leach (BBC) and Vicky Warham (Bauer / Q Radio), the course will equip you with all the skills you need to get started in the radio industry and create quality programming; as presenter, producer, operator or all three.
The course will also feature regular guest lectures by industry experts from the BBC, XFM, Key 103, and many more, alongside field trips to local radio stations and MediaCity:UK.
Host your own radio show on Salford City Radio & Chorley FM!
Thanks to a unique partnership, SSR Radio Production students present a weekly lunchtime programme on South Lancashire's Chorley FM. Produced in SSR's own radio studio in Manchester, it is broadcast every Friday from 12-2pm.
In addition, following our Radio Networking/Course Launch event last year, Salford City Radio have pledged that one lucky student will get their very own radio show on the station!
Upon completion of the course, one lucky student will get their very own radio show on Salford City Radio!*
The successful student will be selected at the end of the 6-month course by the tutors, based on performance during the course.
Pauline Gowers-Scott, Chorley FM:
“SSR Radio Production students have become part of the already successful Chorley FM Team of Volunteers. This is of mutual benefit, as it enables Students to gain more 'On Air' experience by Producing and Presenting Shows, which in turn adds to Chorley FM's variety of programmes.”
Roland Gent – Salford City Radio Station Co-Manager:
“At SSR’s Radio Course launch event I saw so many people all wanting desperately to break into radio. The course looks perfect and I’m sure that it will produce a talent that I will be proud to put on air.”
Our main industry partner Bauer Radio (Key 103, Magic, Rock FM) also offer flexible work placements to our students working alongside award winning Producer Lee Tideswell. We at SSR believe that this close relationship with the North-West radio industry along with our industry active tutors is the key to the ongoing success of our Radio Production course.
