SSR Manchester - Bradley Harris - Games Tutor
Bradley Harris - Games Tutor

We are delighted to announce the expansion of our Games Department with the recent appointment of game art specialist Bradley Harris.

Bradley has been working in the games industry since he graduated from Digital Animation at Herts University in 2007 and joins SSR as the course leader for our Game Art & Animation industry diploma. Brad will also take on tutoring duties for our Games Development foundation degree.

“I’ve always loved art, which lead me to think ‘how can I use art as a job?’. The coolest job role I ever had was working as Art Lead at DR Studios. This involved managing the visual style of the game we were working on, as well as managing the art team. I have also recently worked on Lego Dimensions which is due for release in 2017. My role on this game was environment artist, which meant creating backgrounds and scenery.”

As a Games Tutort at SSR, Brad is very keen that students on our courses learn to specialise. He believes that some games courses are too generalised, and that in order to get a job at the end of the course you need specific skills. “For me, the goal is that each student has the necessary skills to get a job, so we aim to help students specialise in their chosen area.”

On the Games Art & Animation industry course and Games Development FdSc course, Brad will be teaching a wide variety of art related topics including props, environments and characters.

“I would love for SSR to become the place to be in Manchester for games. Everyone who is teaching on our courses is also still working in the games industry, which makes the course brilliant because we’re all really current in the skills that we’re teaching.”

This appointment is further evidence of our commitment to growing and developing the games department at SSR and placing our games education at the heart of the Manchester and North West games scene.

We would like to warmly welcome Brad to the SSR team and we look forward to seeing the positive impact his knowledge and experience will have on our games students.
