SSR provide numerous scholarship and bursary programmes...

Charlie Jones Scholarship

This scholarship has been created in memory and honour of Charlie Jones, recognised as one of the UK’s leading sound engineers with over 30 years of service in live sound and television broadcast. The scholarship was established in 2006 by Charlie’s sister Helen Jones in collaboration with Wigwam Acoustics and SSR.

The Charlie Jones Scholarship is intended for young people who have a passion to work in the Live Sound Industry and who would otherwise not be able to afford this type of training. It is worth £7,000 and will fund one place on SSR’s Audio Engineering Techniques & Technologoy course (18 months). The course includes a dedicated Live Sound Engineering module and the possibility of a work placement at Wigwam.

Charlie, who sadly died in June 2006, played a very important part in the growth and development of Wigwam over the past twenty years. Charlie was regarded as one of the industry’s most talented Live Sound Engineers and was also a teacher and mentor to many young, up-and–coming engineers.
