SSR offer specialised services for secondary schools and colleges, supporting students of all ages and ability levels. Our school activities include taster sessions, interactive workshops and stage and studio based projects, designed to be interactive, challenging and fun.

We provide both general music/media taster sessions and also more specialised deliveries which are customised to meet more specific needs. Our services engage young performers, singers, musicians, DJs and technicians; in a whole host of related career outcomes.

SSR continue to design and run a variety of ongoing projects for many regional schools including Super Learning Days, bespoke short courses, and music and media ‘experiences’ for the BBC ‘Blast’ and ‘Aim Higher’ projects. In addition we can fully support the new Creative and Media Specialised Diploma providing employer engagement, work related and experiential learning opportunities, as well as highly specialised careers information. We also run a Summer School Programme over a number of weeks during school holidays.

Why SSR?

All tutors are industry-active professionals who bring real world experience to the classrooms and studios of SSR. Our tutors have worked with many famous artists and bands including Amy Winehouse, Elbow and Snow Patrol to name but a few.

Similarly, our Film and TV team work on TV shows such as Coronation Street; films such as Lord of the Rings and in the Computer Games industry producing sound effects for Codemasters and other leading companies. Because of this, student project work is often brief –led using real world video and audio footage from popular games and TV shows.

SSR’s facilities are second to none for music and media education. Many local universities and colleges have linked with SSR to deliver their degree courses because of this. We have a total of 14 recording studios and editing suites, a number of DJ booths, a filming area and a live music venue. Our computer suites and class rooms are all fully air conditioned and our administrative staff will ensure that all courses run smoothly and efficiently to the satisfaction of our many customers and clients. We can also travel to you for assemblies, running workshops and careers advice and guidance, should you require.
