Visitors and locals gather in Camden to hunt for treasures and enjoy the street culture of Camden markets, stroll by Regent's Canal, gaze at the beautiful buildings, sample cuisine from around the world, and of course, listen to music.
With a well-established history of music, Camden itself has foundations stronger than most music locations around the world. There aren’t many places where you can spend one night out and have the luxury of such a wide range of different music venue choices. There is definitely something for everyone. Parkway, Chalk Farm Road, Kentish Town Rd and Camden High St. are the main arteries of the music scene in London, full of fresh talent to enjoy and, for an SSR student, brimming with connections to be made and experience to be had. Nearby venues Koko, the Underworld and Electric Ballroom present the latest bands. The legendary Jazz Cafe offers world class jazz and blues. And, as well as gigs and clubnights, The Roundhouse hosts theatrical performances from top UK companies such as the RSC, as well as films and art installations.
And this is just Camden, our campus is a short walk from Camden Town tube station and many bus routes for quick connection to the whole of London – the gigs, the west end theatres, the tourist attractions, the galleries; it's a never-ending list. The thriving music, events and culture industry means that not only is London a great place to study, for an SSR student the wealth of creative businesses represent real career opportunities.
