On the 20th & 21st November, SSR London exhibited at the annual Music Production Expo at the Emirates Stadium, Islington.
As well as having a stand in the main event, two of our tutors, Jonathan Espinosa and Jake Williams, delivered seminars.
Jonathan spoke about advanced recording and mixing techniques during his seminar, looking at some of the creative and technical decisions that go into producing a record through the deconstruction of tracks from his latest album as Minology. Advanced recording, production and mixing techniques were discussed and debated, with the session encouraging people to consider different approaches with their own productions.
Jake Williams' seminar focused on experimental turntablism in modern production, and discussed the history of experimental turntablism and its subsequent impact on modern production techniques, exploring the use of modern pieces of DJ equipment as tools for creative expression. During the seminar Jake showcased his own bespoke setup and explained how he has been pushing NI’s new STEMS format, Traktor and Ms Pinky open source control vinyl to their limits in exploration of new creative pathways.
We had a great couple of days meeting everyone who attended the show and catching up with some of our partners who were also exhibiting - thank you to everyone who came down and said "Hi!".
See you next year...
