Last week, SSR welcomed special guest speaker, Mattia Cellotto
, to chat about sample library creation with third year Sound Engineering & Design students. Mattia, who currently works for EA Games and has worked on big video games such as; Stars Wars Battlefront II, gave the students a taste of life in the Game Audio industry.
He also shared a few tips and tricks on how to really master audio recordings:“Recording sounds with unique microphones will allow you to capture sources in new ways and stimulate a deeper understanding of field recording.”
He also spoke of the importance of tailoring your sounds to your audience and understanding their expectations for quality.
The guest lecture covered areas from Ultrasonic Recording to Game Audio Implementation, and proved to not only be a hit with the students, but with Sound Engineering and Design Tutor, Alex Gregson too.
Sharing his thoughts on the session, Alex said he believes the talk with Mattia has inspired his students immensely, and encouraged them to think about their portfolio assignments from a different perspective.
Thank you to Mattia for sharing his insights, and his experience in field recording and game audio with our students.
