SSR Manchester - Beatwolf Radio / SSR freshers party with The Jessie Rose Trip
Beatwolf Radio / SSR freshers party with The Jessie Rose Trip
We are delighted to officially unveil a new collaboration with Manchester based Beatwolf Radio, which will see exclusive sessions, band interviews and other special events taking place right here at SSR Manchester.

Beatwolf Radio is part of the wider Beatwolf family that includes an online magazine and website, created by content director and Manchester legend Mike Joyce, drummer from The Smiths. Mike’s links with SSR go back to the early days of Spirit Studio on Tariff Street where The Smiths rehearsed and recorded.

The first event of this exciting collaboration took place last week, with a very special live performance from The Jessie Rose Trip in our live venue. Jessie (singer) is well known for her soulful vocals and charisma with her work earning rave comparisons with everyone from Billie Holiday to the legendary guitarist that is Jimi Hendrix.

This exclusive event also doubled up as a freshers party to welcome our new intake of students into SSR, enjoying the show with exisiting SSR students and fans of the band who had registered via the Beatwolf Radio website.

The gig was 100% engineered and produced by existing students from our Live Sound course, and was also recorded and filmed for future broadcast on Beatwolf. The crew consisted of Matt Arblaster (FOH mix), Steven DeSarasola (Monitors), Alistair Bean (Recording Engineer) with assistance from Sarah Hart and Sam McMorine. They did a great job, with the sound for the audience and recording mix sounding crystal clear and Jessie commenting it was probably the best monitor mix they had ever had!

SSR Marketing & Events Manager Matt Talbot:
“We are really excited to be linking up with Beatwolf Radio for these events and hope to see it grow into a premier showcase for both emerging and established talent. The gigs provide invaluable experience for our students, allowing them to put their training into practise and mix for a live audience. Everyone at SSR would like to thank The Jessie Rose Trip, Beatwolf and the engineers for producing a great evening, and of course to everyone who came and make it such a special night. We have some big names in the pipeline for future shows so keep an eye out for details!”

Further sessions and special events will be announced very soon, with a great headline act already lined up for a November show. Keep an eye on the SSR and Beatwolf social channels for details.
