SSR welcomes Kid British into our Spirit Studio
Kid British are a six-piece British band from Manchester, comprised of Adio Marchant (vocals), Sean Mbaya (vocals/guitar/keyboard), Simeon McLean (vocals), Dominick Allen (vocals/rhythm guitar), Mykey Wilson (drums), and Matt Herod (bass guitar).
The band visited SSR in June for a recording/video session, with the day also acting as a pre-production rehearsal for the band’s support slot at the recent Stone Roses concerts in Heaton Park.
Kid British supported the Roses on Friday 29th July alongside other acts including Primal Scream and The Wailers. They used their time at SSR to familiarise themselves with their in-ear stage monitoring ahead of the gig and to run through their set.
This day was setup by Feature Phonic Media, who have been collaborating with our students on exclusive sessions with bands that have seen Wheatus, The Pretty Shapes & Big Sir among others visiting SSR’s studios.
The session was engineered by SSR graduates Tom Leach & Adam Stokel as well as SSR student Keri Solomon who studies on our BSC Sound Engineering & Design course.
SSR Marketing & Events Manager Matt Talbot:
“It was a real pleasure to welcome Kid British to SSR for the day, and a great testament to our facilities that they were able to test new setups ahead of such an important gig supporting The Stone Roses. Sessions such as this are invaluable opportunities for our students, enabling them to work with high profile artists and gain some great experience for their CV’s. Thank you to everyone involved!”
