SSR staff & students assist Future Everything Festival 2012
SSR students recently volunteered for a variety of technical roles at the annual Future Everything conference in Manchester.
SSR Marketing Assistant Greg Brown has been working regularly for Future Everything and was appointed Technical Manager for the conference which took place during 16th to 19th May 2012. The conference (and associated workshop events) brought together around 500 delegates from across the creative industries; new technologies, innovation, arts, public sector and academia.
The festival also hosted a wide range of music events including performances from Amon Tobin, Marcel Dettman and Trojan Soundsystem.
Greg and the team were very keen to involve SSR students with this event and we were delighted that Racheal Bridge, Tom Collins, Alistair Bean, Adrian Hooper, Nick Carter, David Darroch and Pedro Canato all got involved. Alongside them were SSR graduates Adam Stokel and Vicky Batrak, who were the main engineers for the conference rooms.
Over the 3 days of the festival the SSR volunteers assisted with audio engineering, microphone set ups and artist liaison, facilitated Q&A sessions with the audience and oversaw the recording of each rooms audio feed.
Future Everything Conference Manager Dave Holloway:
"SSR Students, Vicki and Adam were invaluable at the Future Everything conference and it is no exaggeration to say that we could have not done it without them. They were professional, polite and a delight to work with. The whole FE team appreciates their hard work and effort."
It is great to see our students helping out at high profile events such as this. It gives them great industry experience, letting them put their training into practise, and also serves as a valuable networking tool.
