SSR students head down to New Order pre-production
After extending their tour dates due to demand, New Order are set to play at the Manchester 02 Apollo on the 26th and 27th April. SSR Head of Live Sound Jay Beard was able to use his fantastic industry connections to give our students the opportunity to attend the pre production.
Students from both our academic and industry courses were really eager to be involved and we took 10 students down to get an insight of how professionals work in a real world environment. Monitor Engineer Jerry very kindly gave an in depth analysis of his monitor setup allowing time for a Q&A session afterwards.
SSR Live Sound Tutor Jay Beard:
“It was fantastic that the guys from New Order let my students come down to check out their pre production day at the Apollo. Tom Chapman (bass) is an old friend of mine and I have great working relationships with Damo (Stage Manager) and Jerry (Monitor Engineer). We stood behind the monitor console during the sound check and Jerry had chance to talk us through his set up. This kind of experience really brings the industry alive for the students.”
