SSR students at Elbow sound check
SSR’s Live Sound students were treated to an exclusive behind the scenes tour of Elbow’s concert at the Manchester Cathedral.
Live Sound tutor Jay Beard who himself used to work as a touring sound engineer for Elbow, took 6 of his students for an all access tour of the Cathedral production as well as seeing Elbow perform their sound check.
The students were allowed to observe the front of house PA, mixing desk and also watch the crew as they performed their duties. In addition to this, students were shown the BBC outside broadcast trucks where they were given a talk on live mixing for radio and TV from the BBC’s studio manager Mike Walter.
This real world experience is invaluable to our students and is further proof of SSR’s strong industry connections.
SSR Live Sound Tutor Jay Beard :
“I think it is really important for our students to be allowed access to these events and witness the professional standard they should be trying to reach. It was great to see Elbow again and they are always really accommodating to my students, as were the BBC crew. Thanks guys!”
We would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Elbow, their tour manager Tom Piper and the entire crew for giving their time to our students and offering their advice and support.
