Matt Cox guest lecture
SSR was delighted to recently welcome Matt Cox to deliver a guest lecture for students on our Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology course.
Matt was a student with us on the Audio Engineering Techniques & Technology course when we were based on Tariff Street. Matt has since been a midi-technician for the past 15 years working with high profile acts such as The Chemical Brothers, The Prodigy and Snow Patrol.
Matt offered his services to host an exclusive guest lecture where he would unveil some of his top tips. Discussions were held around how to set up and maintain a successful live show as well as a break down of the various types of jobs that are available at live shows.
Matt also gave insights into the light design for a tour and an inside look into what equipment and process is involved for stage lighting before a tour.
“Coming back to SSR after all these years was so exciting; a lot has changed since I was studying the Audio Diploma on Tariff Street. The studio has advanced so much and the facilities were top notch! Offering my knowledge to the students was a pleasure and it was made easier by the level of enthusiasm I encountered”.
“Matt’s knowledge and skills were well received from my students, they really took a lot from him and I would like to thank him for taking the time to see them”.
Guest lectures like this are an important part of all our courses. We feel that it is important for students to get as much real world experience as possible and thanks to the extensive range of contacts possessed by our tutors and staff we can achieve this.
SSR would like to thank Matt for allocating his time to our students and we also feel immensely proud to have produced such a talent.
