His Royal Highness Prince Andrew Visits SSR Jakarta
Earlier in October the United Kingdom officially opened its new embassy building in Jakarta, an occasion which was marked by the attendance of His Royal Highness Duke of York, Prince Andrew.
SSR Jakarta was also delighted to welcome The HRH Duke of York during the visit to Indonesia. As a school which adopts UK standards and traditions for its facilities, modules, and certifications, we were honored to facilitate the visit.
The Prince was escorted by our Head of Audio, Jason O'Bryan and SSR Jakarta Managing Director Danny Murniadi for a tour of our facilities which also involved meeting some of our students and support staff.
During the tour, The HRH Duke of York was amazed by our Animation students' works in the Manual Art Drawing Studio and was watching the students who were working on their projects in our ICON Studio.
The HRH Duke of York also had some times to listen to our lecturer’s explanation about the footstep sound effect recording while the process was demonstrated by SSR Jakarta students.
At the end of the visit, there was a meet and greet session between the Prince and SSR Jakarta staff. During this meeting Prince Andrew was presented with a special gift from Mr. Toni Haryanto in the form of a hand-drawing picture of The HRH Duke of York that had been created especially for the visit. Prince Andrew was both surprised and delighted with the gift.
The new UK embassy, which is located on Jl. Patra Kuningan Raya, South Jakarta, replaces the former embassy on Jl. MH Thamrin in Central Jakarta. The new embassy has been in operation since the end of July and the old building is currently vacant but still owned by the UK government.
It was a real pleasure and honor to welcome such an important guest to SSR, and we would like to pay special thanks to the UK embassy staff and HRH Duke of York for taking the time to visit us and spend some time with our students and staff.
