SSR develops Key partnership
As part of the exclusive new work experience partnership between SSR and Key 103, students from our FdA Radio Production degree will soon be benefiting from work placements with the regions leading commercial radio station.
Confident that our students have the necessary capabilities and training to hit the ground running, Key 103 have expanded their creative partnership with SSR by taking this step which will lead to some great opportunities for our students.
The first announcement we can make is that current Radio Production student Max Smalley will be taking over the production of all Key 103 ‘In:Demand’ podcasts! In Demand (with Alex and Lucy) is Bauers flagship network show, and broadcasts across the North of England via Key103, Rock FM, Radio City, Radio Aire, Hallam FM, Viking FM, Metro Radio, TFM and CFM. Also nationally on The Hits (digital station on Freeview and DAB)
The role will involve Max compiling and editing content for the podcasts along with ensuring they meet the strict broadcast standards required for a commercial station.
Dr David Wainwright Gary Stein, MD of Key 103, had this to say about the partnership:“We are delighted to create this amazing opportunity for SSR students. With this real hands on experience, KEY 103 is delighted to be playing its part in developing the citys next generation of creative talents.”
Ian Hu, SSR Principal:“
This unique partnership with Key is a further illustration of SSR’s links with industry that enables our students to get that real cutting edge experience. In this arrangement SSR students on our degree course will be working with new digital technologies and contributing to creative forums to generate ideas for the station. Such opportunities are priceless and ensure that our students will have excellent contacts and CV’s when they complete their course.”
The next stage of this exciting partnership will see SSR holding a radio production workshop event at the Key 103 studios in Manchester on Thursday July 15th at 11am, featuring hands-on activities and talks from top radio industry professionals with tips on how to get started in the radio industry.
