Exodus Live at SSR
SSR proudly hosted the latest ‘Exodus Live’ event in association with Community Arts North West in the Charlie Jones Live Venue on Friday 20th March 2009.
The night was deemed a great success and saw the venue jam packed with guests enjoying the varied sounds on offer. A total of 7 groups performed at the bash, including Kokoriko, Educated Thugz and Beating Wing, showcasing the best Manchester has to offer in Rap, African and World music sounds.
The night was staffed exclusively by SSR students who, faced with some unfamiliar instrumentation and hectic changeovers, did a fantastic job and made the bands sound great for the packed audience in the Venue.
Exodus aims to impact on the cultural landscape of Greater Manchester through developing partnerships with Greater Manchester's creative and cultural sector, artists and groups amongst our refugee communities, and the wider Greater Manchester population.
SSR Live Sound Student Tom Harris was the production manager for the event and had this to say about the evening:
"It was great to be able to do something a bit different than the usual guitar/indie band nights. There were some really interesting instruments to deal with and having 7 really different bands meant the night was quite stressful and challenging, but our great training from the Live Sound course at SSR saw us all through. It was a great night to be involved with!"
The performances were recorded on video and also as a separate ‘live’ mix using SSR’s state of the art DiGiCo studio. We will be uploading some clips to the website shortly so stay tuned for highlights of the evening.
