SSR Post Production tutor John Wood is no stranger to high profile work and so it was no surprise when John was commissioned work on The Royle Family Christmas special.
John who has been called the George Martin of the Post Production world is a favourite with the Manchester comedy mafia. As well as The Royles he works regularly for Peter Kay and Steve Coogan who insist on the best production teams for their shows.
John strongly believes that to make it to the top, technical expertise and people skills are equally important.
"I stress to SSR students in the Post Production Course that when the temperature rises in the edit suite your job is to keep cool. So I ensure that SSR students are trained in how to deal with highly pressurised situations."
Clive from the Post Production course agrees:
"John is great because he has so much experience and wisdom. He is passing on some invaluable advice and guidance based on real world situations and testing us on what we would do. It gives us so much confidence, knowing that we are learning from tutors who are operating at the very highest level"
It is these kind of connections that equip our students with the professional qualities needed to launch their careers.
