We are pleased to announce that SSR has been accredited by the British Accreditation Council for another year.
The British Accreditation Council has provided a comprehensive quality assurance scheme for independent further and higher education in the UK since 1984. Their accreditation is recognised the world over by students, agents and government officials as the clearest mark of educational quality in the private sector.
SSR has been accredited by the BAC since 2010 and we are delighted to have met and passed their stringent standards for re-accreditation following a series of inspections at SSR Manchester and London at the end of 2014.
The inspection was carried out over two and a half days. The first half-day was spent at SSR London where the inspector carried out an additional premises inspection. The other two days were spent inspecting our Manchester campus. All expected documentation was made available for review including course curricular documents, student handbooks, staff handbooks, examples of marked student work and collaboration and validation agreements with further and higher education partner institutions. In addition, the inspector was able to review all aspects of the premises and an off-site viewing of student accommodation.SSR Academic Director Ian Carmichael:“It’s always very rewarding to pass any inspection, but to be commended on so many areas of good practice was very heartening, especially by the experts at BAC who really know their stuff.”Report Highlights
“SSR's teaching staff who were interviewed by the inspector demonstrated high levels of motivation and commitment to SSR. Students commented on the level of professionalism and ability to inspire due to their real "passion" for the subject matter and use of technology. The quality of the teaching observed was exemplary.”“The strategic foresight of SSR's senior management is seen as a major strength enabling it to compete effectively. The operation of the "Stingray" management system is a major strength of SSR as it provides a powerful information database which enables access by various users enhancing the provision of information to various groups of stakeholders. The interaction between SSR and its partners in the student application and acceptance process is considered to be a strength promoting collegiality between the partners.”“The procedures for handing-in, filing and archiving assignments is considered to be good practice.”“Very good written feedback was seen by the inspector and the second and third year students who were interviewed confirmed that they received detailed and helpful feedback on their performance. Assessments are produced by SSR and for degree courses are externally moderated in accordance with the partner university's normal procedures.”
