We’re very pleased to announce our brand new sponsorship of the Manchester Film Festival.
We’re now officially ‘creative partners’ of this great festival, which for SSR and the Manchester Film Festival is the start of an exciting relationship that we all hope will run and run. The festival, in its second year, provides a fantastic platform of unique film and workshops over a course of four days, with excellent film and events at various locations, including the city’s Odeon and AMC cinemas, HOME and Elliot House. For SSR, it’s a perfect fit that excellently demonstrates our commitment to creativity and delivering world class education in music, film and games.
As ever, our students and alumni will be the benefactors of this great partnership.
The festival begins on Thursday 3 March, with AMC Great Northern hosting an evening of red carpet gala and film, which shall welcome special guests and film fans from around the globe, starting the festival with a showing of the international premiere of feature documentary Dennis Viollet – A United Man
With excellent sneak previews and scores of international premieres set for the whole festival, and with live music at the Print Works on Saturday, courtesy of Vince Giordano - the Brooklyn born jazz musician who brought the music to Boardwalk Empire and numerous Woody Allen films - the festival is set to be one of the finest film festivals in any calendar for many years to come.
The festival has to end some time, though, and perfect it is then that it wraps up with an inspiring women in film theme on Sunday, which coincides nicely with Manchester’s 2016 Wonder Women event
and of course Mother’s Day. An evening of more UK and world premieres and an award ceremony will bring the event to a close.
With creativity being at the heart of SSR for more than three decades, not to mention our own world exclusive degree in 3D film being taught here, it is a real honour to be creative partners of this festival.
