SSR - SSR Students Recognised in 2016 AMS Neve Prize Awards
SSR Students Recognised in 2016 AMS Neve Prize Awards
We are extremely proud to share the news that two SSR students have been recognised in the 2016 AMS Neve Prize award scheme.

The AMS Neve Prize forms part of our partnership with AMS Neve and their wider partnership initiative with select Universities and higher education institutions.

The renowned manufacturer of professional audio equipment developed this partnership programme to help inspire the next generation of musicians, engineers and music producers. Both SSR Manchester and SSR London are members of the partnership programme along with LIPA, the University of Surrey, dBs Music and The London College of Music.

Our Manchester and London campuses each received an AMS Neve Prize trophy and £200 cheque to be awarded to two students for excellence shown during their course and assignments.

The recipients of the award were selected through analysis of final results of both academic and industry courses, and the awards were given to the highest grade achieved at each campus. We were delighted to award the prizes to Stephen Thompson (SSR Manchester) and Martin Foakes (SSR London), both of whom excelled in their respective course and were fully deserving of this recognition.

AMS Neve then invited Martin and Stephen to visit their factory in Burnley for an exclusive tour of their factory and production line, meet and greet with their staff and an informal presentation ceremony to receive their trophies and cheques.

Stephen and Martin were both honoured to have been recipients of their awards and had this to say about the experience:

Martin Foakes:
"After three years of study and work I was very pleased to have received this award, particularly from an industry leader like Neve. Getting the chance to visit the AMS Neve building, see the work processes they go through first hand, and be shown through their history and latest product ranges was a fantastic experience."

Stephen Thompson:
"The visit to AMS Neve HQ was inspirational. To see the factory where consoles on which so many big records were made was insightful. The level of exposure to seriously high-end consoles and outboard that I've had through my time at SSR and specifically with the Neve award, gives me a lot to talk about when speaking with industry professionals and prospective employers".

Ian Carmichael - SSR Academic Director:
"We are delighted to be partnered with AMS Neve and honoured to be a part of their award scheme. I am truly proud to congratulate Steve and Martin on the award; they both worked extremely hard and are both deserving recipients. I wish them every success."

We would like to take this opportunity to further congratulate Martin and Stephen, and we wish them all the best for the future. In addition, we would like to thank everyone at AMS Neve for their continued support of SSR and our students.
