SSR Records the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance
Gordon Hall & Nick Siepman currently in Phase 2 of our Audio Engineering course recently had the opportunity to work with top musicians from the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance and the University of Southern California on an exciting project. The task was to record 4 songs, from 4 different bands, and mix them by 5pm, using both our ICON and Neve studios.
Gordon was based in the Neve and Nick in the ICON and to make full use of time, each band was allotted just 1 hour to record their song in the morning, returning in the afternoon to mix.
Students were managing sessions and artists on a tight schedule to make sure they made the songs sound exactly how the artists and producers wanted.
Both our students and students from the Institute and USC were thoroughly pleased with the results, and made some really useful connections.
SSR Student Gordon Hall:
“It was such an intense day, my first time recording in the Neve on my own, and it couldn’t have gone better! I really enjoyed myself, the musicians were so talented and hope to work with them again in the future!”
