SSR Success Story - Waseem Faraz Butt, Sound Designer

Waseem Faraz Butt

Sound Designer

Sound Engineering & Design BSc (Hons)

Waseem Faraz Butt is currently studying on our Sound Engineering & Design course and is due to graduate in 2014. He was recently asked to create the music for a new Android puzzle game called Pop The Bubble.

This was Waseem’s first experience of sound design for mobile applications, and he explained that the project required quite a bit of correspondence with developers Debels to establish how the final application needed to sound to suit the style and mood of the game.

The soundtrack features a mixture of Indian instruments such as the Sitar and Dhol (percussion), used to influence the soundtrack into a relaxed mood for the game.

Waseem Faraz Butt:
“It was a great experience for me as this was my first concerning mobile application gaming, which I had never done before. I’ve learnt a few new things and for me this was one of my finer achievements within the soundtrack, given the short time deadline and the musical style. The application was launched this year and has reached over 10 thousand downloads so far, so I'm obviously extremely happy. The developer Debels are now working on their next game and I'm already looking forward to it!”

You can find out more about the game and download it from the Android Apps store here:

It is great to see that Waseem is already making a name for himself within the field of sound design and composition, particularly given the fact he has not even graduated yet!

We are very proud of all our students' work and would like to congratulate Waseem on his recent success with Pop The Bubble.
