SSR student Andrea Quarin has just landed an engineer’s dream job as Studio Manager for the brand new ACE Centre in Nelson, Lancashire.
Responsible for all aspects of the business including client bookings, recording and production of all sessions and liaising with record labels, recording artists and local education, Andrea beat over 100 applicants for the job.
The ACE Centre is a brand new Arts, Culture and Enterprise Centre that will host a range of activities designed to attract people of all cultures, ages and backgrounds into the centre of Nelson. The Centre provides a dynamic mix of community facilities, top class catering and exciting arts, dance, sculpture, film, music and theatre programmes.
Andrea, an international student from Italy, recently completed the FdSc Sound Engineering & Design degree at SSR and will be starting at the ACE centre at the end of May. As a student Andrea made full use of SSR’s Careers Department in preparing for the 1st and 2nd stage panel interviews as well as the final studio test, whereby his recording and mixing skills were put to the test.
"I would like to specifically say thank SSR’s Careers Department for help in preparing for my job interviews. I’m not sure I would have received this level of support from any other college. I am a high achiever and finally I have my chance to show what I can do. I really enjoyed my time at SSR and would like to thank my tutors and all the staff for their help in kick-starting my career. I couldn’t have done it without them."
