Director - Noisebox
James Clamp graduated from our Audio Engineering Techniques & Technology course in Manchester in 2009 and has been active in the audio and live sound events industry ever since.
One of James' main roles was working for local PA company Noisebox. Following the sad passing of Noisebox founder Steve Lloyd earlier this year, James and two associates are now taking on the baton and carrying the company forward with the blessing of Steve's family.
Here is James's story in his own words.James Clamp:"I was a student at SSR from 2007 - 2009 on the 2 year Audio Engineering Techniques and Technology course. During my time there I managed to secure some work for a local Manchester PA company called Noisebox through connections made thanks to the tutors at SSR. Thrown in at the deep end, I had to put my freshly acquired knowledge to the test as I was out doing gigs around town within days. During my time at Noisebox I met many of Manchester’s finest engineers, and thanks a few "right place at the right time" moments and always making myself available for opportunities, I managed to secure regular in-house work at some of Manchester's best and well loved venues including Sound Control, Sankeys and the Roadhouse.Fast forward to 2014 and the Manchester music scene was shocked to hear of the untimely passing of Noisebox owner Mr Steve Lloyd, a pillar of the scene for as long as anyone could remember. His wish was for Noisebox to carry on trading, along with his philosophy of providing experience and training to up-and-coming sound engineers. Myself and 2 engineer friends, with the backing of Steve's family and friends decided we should attempt to carry on the legacy of Noisebox. We have recently relocated to a new premises and are looking forward to the future!I've made it from not knowing how to wire an XLR to being a successful sound engineer and PA company director in a few short years and I have the excellent training and tutors/staff at SSR to thank for it!"
We are extremely proud of James, not only for his success in the industry but also the fact he is carrying on Steve Lloyd's legacy with Noisebox and helping carry the company forwards.
Noisebox has been a starting point for many SSR students over the years and we look forward to working with James and the company in future to continue this tradition.http://www.noiseboxproductions.co.uk
