SSR Success Story - Stanislav Lipnitski, Freelance Sound Engineer & Musician

Stanislav Lipnitski

Freelance Sound Engineer & Musician

Studio & Live Music Production BSc (Hons)

Stanislav completed our BSc (Hons) Studio & Live Music Production course and graduated in 2013.

Following his graduation Stan has been working as a freelance sound engineer and music promoter in Manchester. He has also been touring all over Europe with his band (also acting as their tour manager) and recording with other SSR graduates at Castle Rock Studios in Cheshire.

We asked Stan to tell us about his recent achievements.

Stanislav Lipnitski:
“Since graduating I been working as a free-lance sound engineer for several venues in the Northern Quarter in Manchester; Gulliver's, The Castle Hotel, Eagle Inn etc, using desks like the LS9 and X32. This is mainly small in-house work with the occasional indie band that just got signed to a major label.

I also managed to land an Arts Council grant for a hefty sum, together with a team of music promoters, in order to bring a Gypsy Ska band from Belgrade on tour in the UK. We have put them on for gigs at Manchester Academy and in London as well as running a series of music workshops for young adults from the East European communities living in Greater Manchester.

This year, I have mainly abandoned all other work as I ended up acting as the tour manager for my band Age of Glass, going on the road in the UK then on to Holland, Germany and Italy, supported by our own FOH tech who is also one of the directors of Neuron Pro Audio.

We played support slots in some nice venues in Europe like Melkweg (Amsterdam), De Oosterport - Groningen, Maassilo (Rotterdam), Klubsen (Hamburg) and Hootenanny (Brixton). We also played a series of UK summer festivals like Glastonbury, Kendal Calling, Secret Garden Party and BoomTown.

We released a live EP on Whetstone Records last summer which was recorded and mixed at Castle Rock studios by fellow SSR student Adam Stokel and we are now working on our own production at our home studio to be mixed by Paddy Street of 808 State.

We currently hold fortnightly production rehearsals at Islington Mill in Salford and are getting geared up for more festivals at the end of August!”

Sounds like Stan has been very busy since leaving SSR and we wish him good luck with his band and future career!
